Abstract:
Our Associate Editor, dr. Michele Panuccio, who has conceived and directed this special issue, did not have time to see it published, passing away the 18th June of 2019. His death leaves an overwhelming emptiness, but also an immense heredity, which we hope new generations of ornithologists will be able to pick up. His close friends and colleagues Nicolantonio Agostini and Ugo Mellone remember him in our Journal with this contribution.
